(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- 

According to investigators, detectives with the Robbery Intervention Detail (RID) were conducting surveillance in the area mentioned above.  During the surveillance, the detectives observed the victim arrive in his vehicle and park near the detectives’ vehicle.  The victim then proceeded to exit the vehicle and approach the detectives with one hand behind his back.  Detectives immediately identified themselves as police officers and ordered the victim to stop and show his hands; however, a confrontation ensued and shots were fired.  The victim was fatally wounded on the scene.   Detectives recovered a firearm on the victim at the scene.
