The Miami-Dade Police Department Homicide Bureau is investigating an incident that occurred at the above listed location. According to detectives, officers responded to a report of shots fired inside of a private school bus. Responding officers discovered a 13 year old female suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Officers immediately identified the subject and were able to recover the firearm. Approximately 8 other children were in the bus at the time of the incident including the victim's 7 year old sibling. None of the children were injured. The victim was airlifted to Miami Children's Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. All parties involved were transported to the Homicide Bureau for further questioning. The school bus is not equipped with video surveillance equipment. The motive at this time is unknown as well as any information regarding the firearm. The investigation continues. UPDATE: The victim and subject have been identified and are listed above. The subject's criminal charges are included.
