(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- 

 The Miami-Dade Police Department, Homicide Bureau continues to investigate a police involved shooting that occurred at the above listed location.  According to investigators, officers responded to a theft in progress at a drug store located at S.W. 117 Avenue & S.W. 72 Street.  Once officers arrived, store security identified the subject vehicle as it was leaving the parking lot.  While attempting to flee from the officers, the driver lost control of the vehicle, struck a barricade post and came to a stop.  The subject attempted to strike the officers with the vehicle as they approached on foot.  The officers discharged their firearms striking both the driver and passenger.  The driver was pronounced deceased on the scene and the passenger was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
