Police Involved Shooting (Update #2)


(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- 

The Miami-Dade Police Department, Homicide Bureau continues to investigate a police involved shooting that occurred at the above listed location.  According to investigators, detectives were approaching the residence pursuant to an on-going narcotics investigation, when the subjects opened fire at the detectives.  The detectives returned fire and the subjects fled on foot.  A perimeter was immediately established and Brian Howell was apprehended within the perimeter.  The other two subjects remain at large and are considered armed and dangerous.  The residence caught fire and the cause is unclear at this time.  None of the officers were injured during the incident.

As this continues to be an active investigation, there will be some road closures and we urge commuters to seek alternate routes. The following are the road closures:  S.W. 152 Avenue to S.W. 157 Avenue and S.W. 56 Street to S.W. 60 Street.

UPDATE #1: Subject #2, Dell DiGiovanni, has been located deceased (suicide) in the area of SW 147 Avenue and SW 48 Terrace.
UPDATE #2:  Subject #1, Brain Kelly Howell, was charged with Possession of  Place to Manufacture a Controlled Substance.  The investigation remains on-going.
