2 Children Injured in House Fire

Child Neglect Investigation Prompted

(Miami-Dade County, FL) --

The Miami-Dade Police Department (MDPD) is investigating a house fire at the above listed location.  According to investigators, MDPD officers responded to the residence after Miami-Dade Fire Rescue crews rescued two small children that were found alone in the fire-engulfed home.  The children, both in cardiac arrest, were airlifted to the Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital, in serious condition.

Based on the preliminary investigation, it appears the two children (4 & 7 years of age) were left alone in the residence while a caretaker was running errands.

The investigation, by MDPD's Arson and Child Exploitation Units, remains active/ongoing.
