(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- 

The Miami-Dade Police Department, Homicide Bureau continues to investigate a police involved shooting that occurred at the above listed location.  According to investigators, a 911 call was received from a passenger inside a Miami-Dade Transit bus stating that another passenger was garnishing a firearm.  The bus was traveling northbound on N.W. 27 Avenue and the subject exited the bus on college property.  The armed subject confronted responding officers and shots were fired.  As the officers approached the subject to render aid, they observed an object that appeared to be a grenade in his possession.  The officers immediately secured the area and requested the Bomb Unit to respond.  The transit bus was also swept for possible explosives and was deemed safe.  The subject succumbed to his injuries on the scene.  The officers were not injured.
