(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- 

While on routine patrol, officers observed the subject, Tremaine McMillian, pick-up an unknown black juvenile male and throw him to the ground.  They approached the two individuals and verified that an altercation was not occurring. McMillian was advised by the officers that this type of behavior is not acceptable in the beach area.  The officer then asked McMillian to direct them to his parents and he refused.  He also refused to disclose his parent’s whereabouts and walked away.  As McMiilian continued walking, the officers followed him inquiring as to the whereabouts of his parents.  Once McMillian left the beach area and was approaching Halover Boulevard, the officer attempted to stop him by grabbing his arm.  He stiffened his arm and clinched his fists and attempted to pull away from the officer.  An altercation ensued and McMillian was taken into custody.
