Suicide Threats |

The Miami-Dade Police Department responded to Jackson Memorial Hospital in reference to a female inside a vehicle threatening to commit suicide. The vehicle was located inside a parking garage on the east side of the property. Responding officers noticed the subject, Maivel Herrera, armed with a firearm making threats to harm herself. The immediate area was secured as the Special Response Team along with Hostage Negotiators were summoned to respond. After several hours of communication, team members were able to successfully remove Ms. Herrera from the vehicle without causing harm to herself. Ms. Herrera was transported to the emergency room for medical evaluation.
