Shooting (Police-Involved) - Update #1 |

The Miami-Dade Police Department (MDPD), Homicide Bureau, is investigating a police-involved shooting. According to investigators, an on-duty MDPD police officer approached a suspicious subject at the listed gasoline station and a violent confrontation ensued. The subject attacked the police officer, stabbing him multiple times, until the officer discharged his firearm, striking the subject. The officer was transported [by other MDPD officers] to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital where he remains in serious condition. The subject died on the scene. Additional details regarding the incident, including an update on the officer’s condition, is forthcoming. UPDATE #1: MDPD officer continues to recover from injuries he sustained during the incident and has been upgraded to stable condition. Information will be provided as it becomes available.
