The Miami-Dade Police Department, Homicide Bureau is investigating a drowning that took place at the listed location. Police were initially dispatched to a missing two-year old and upon arrival, they were approached by the family members who had just discovered the two-year old inside a nearby canal. The officer jumped into the canal to rescue the child and was assisted by an off-duty Florida Highway Patrol Major. Once the officers made it to the canal bank, they began resuscitative efforts on the child. The child was airlifted to Miami Children's Hospital where he was listed in critical condition. No foul play is suspected at this time. UPDATE: On January 21, 2014, investigators confirmed that shortly after 5:00 a.m. Maxuell Armah was pronounced deceased. The cause of death is pending the medical examiner's report.
