The Miami-Dade Police Department, Homicide Bureau, is investigating a death that took place at the listed location. Sunny Isles police officers conducted a traffic stop in reference to a criminal investigation. They removed the driver from the vehicle and placed him in handcuffs. At that time, he fled on foot from officers across Biscayne Boulevard and jumped into a nearby canal. Officers jumped into the water to rescue the driver. At the same time, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue arrived and assisted in pulling the driver out. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. The investigation continues....
