Shooting


(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- 
The Miami-Dade Police Department, Intracoastal District, is investigating a shooting at the listed location. According to investigators, armed security guards assigned to the Golden Glades Tri-Rail station detained the subject after receiving a dispatched call involving him. While on the station platform, the guards were involved in a violent altercation with the subject, when shots were fired. A foot pursuit ensued and the subject attempted to board a bus that was traveling northbound on State Road 9, but was apprehended by arriving Miami-Dade Police Department officers and a Florida Highway Patrol trooper(s). During the altercation, both a security guard (victim #1) and the subject sustained gunshot wounds. However, the specific details remain unclear at this time. The guard and subject were transported to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital in serious/stable condition. The second guard (victim #2) also sustained injuries and was transported to Jackson North Medical Center in stable condition. Charges are pending. The investigation remains active/ongoing. Update #1: The victims and subject have been identified. Further investigation revealed the subject disarmed and shot Security Officer James Errante (Victim #1). The subject then turned and pointed the firearm at Security Officer Anderson (Victim #2), who then discharged his firearm, striking the subject. Having been shot, the subject fled on foot northbound on State Road 9, and was taken into custody while attempting to board a Broward County Transit Bus.
