Armed Home Invasion

(Miami-Dade County, FL) --

The Miami-Dade Police Department, Robbery Bureau is investigating a home invasion that occurred at the listed location.  According to detectives, the victims were seated in Mr. Perez’s (Victim #1) enclosed patio when they observed the subjects loitering in the apartment complex.  Mr. Perez became suspicious and exited his porch to confront the subjects, who were now by the stairwell.  The subjects produced firearms and forced Mr. Perez back inside his porch, where Mr. Antequera (Victim #2) was still seated. At gunpoint, the subjects stole property from Mr. Antequera. The subjects then forced both victims inside the residence through the rear sliding glass door. Mr. Antequera entered the residence first, but when Mr. Perez entered, he attempted to close the sliding glass door behind him. The subjects fired several shots into the residence, shattering the glass door and striking Mr. Perez, then fled in an unknown direction. Mr. Perez was airlifted to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital. Mr. Perez sustained several gunshot wounds to his torso and extremities, and underwent surgery. Doctors determined that Mr. Perez's spine was severed and he would be paralyzed from the waist down.  He is listed in critical but stable condition. Mr. Antequera was not injured.

UPDATE #1:  Detectives have obtained surveillance footage of the subjects prior to and after the incident.

Surveillance video captured the image of the subjects and investigators are seeking the assistance of the community in identifying and/or locating these individuals. Video surveillance footage may be obtained from the FTP site.

UPDATE #2: Through investigative means, detectives were able to identify and locate one of the subjects involved in the armed home invasion.  He was placed under arrest and charged accordingly.
