The Miami-Dade Police Department, Domestic Crimes Unit is investigating a shooting that occurred at the above listed residence. According to investigators, the subject, Donald Edward Strange, and his wife were involved in a verbal dispute which escalated into a physical confrontation. During the confrontation he produced a firearm and shot his wife in the chest. Both of their children, ages 13 and 11, were present during the incident. Once his father fled in his 2010 Honda Accord, the 11 year old boy called 911. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to the scene and transported the victim to Ryder Trauma Center where she is listed in critical condition. Donald Strange remains at large and is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information of his whereabouts is urged to immediately contact 911.
UPDATE #1 - The victim subsequently died, as a result of her injuries. The subject was apprehended in Cook County, Georgia by members of the Cook County Sheriff's Department and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI). He is currently awaiting extradition to Miami-Dade County.
The children are currently in the custody of the Department of Children & Families as the investigation continues.
Subject #1 has been charged with 1 count of 2nd Degree Murder and 2 counts of Aggravated Battery with a Firearm.
