(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- 

On Thursday, December 18th 2014, while working a Grinch Busters detail at Dadeland Mall, Miami-Dade Police Department officers from Kendall District's Priority Service Unit observed a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot. When the officers approached the vehicle, the driver attempted to flee striking an officer with the vehicle. With the assistance of the Kendall District's Crime Suppression Team, who were working the Grinch Busters detail in an undercover capacity, immediately respond and subsequently stopped the vehicle. The driver and passenger were placed under arrest. Further investigation revealed that the suspects were in possession of heroin as well as other illegal narcotics/controlled substances. The driver is also a habitual traffic offender whose driver's license was revoked for five years. The officer sustained minor injuries.
