Homicide


(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- 

The Miami-Dade Police Department, Homicide Bureau is investigating a shooting that occurred at the above listed location.  According to investigators, the subject and the victim are husband and wife and have been estranged for some time.  The husband met with the wife to exchange some property when an argument ensued.  The husband then produced a firearm, shot the estranged wife and turned the gun on himself.  Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded and pronounced the victim deceased on the scene.  The subject was transported to Kendall Regional Trauma Center where he is currently listed in critical condition.

Update #1: The subject has been identified as Rafael Baster Sanchez and he has expired on January 15, 2015 at 6:43 am.

Update #2: On January 16, 2015, The Deceased victim, Lourdes Marie Martinez-Rodriguez's date of birth has been confirmed by detectives as January 31, 1971.
