Police Involved Shooting


(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- 

An officer from the Miami-Dade Police Department (MDPD) was involved in a shooting with a subject yielding a machete. The incident occurred at 8535 S.W. 104 Terrace, Miami Dade and involved an officer from the MDPD’s Kendall District.

Investigators say that a 911 call was received in reference to a violent domestic dispute between two brothers.  Responding officers made contact with the subject who was armed with a machete.  The subject ignored the verbal commands and lunged at one of the officers causing the officer to discharge her firearm striking the subject.  He was transported to Kendall Regional Trauma Center where he's listed in critical condition.  The officer was not injured during the incident. 

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) is conducting the investigation.
