Officers from the Miami-Dade Police Department (MDPD) were involved in a shooting with a violent 25 year old wielding a pick-axe. The incident occurred in southwest Miami-Dade and involved officers from MDPD assigned to the City of Palmetto Bay.
At approximately 9:30 p.m. officers were dispatched to SW 88 Place & 183 Terrace regarding an individual violently breaking neighbors vehicles windows and puncturing their tire with a pick-axe, totaling six cars. As officers arrived together with family members, the individual ran inside his home and locked the front door. The family members gave access to the officers into the home where they were confronted with the individual still in possession of the pick-axe.
The individual lunged at the officers where they were forced to discharge their firearm striking the subject.
The officers attempted CPR on the subject until Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded and pronounced the subject deceased on scene.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) is conducting the investigation. No further information is available at this time.
