Death Investigation

(Miami-Dade County, FL) --

Detectives from the Miami-Dade Police Department's (MDPD) Homicide Bureau are investigating an incident where an 18 year old went missing in the waters of Bakers Haulover Inlet while going for a swim with a friend.

Just after 11 this morning the missing person and his friend went for a swim in Haulover Inlet.  Once they both jumped into the water they realized that the current was to strong.  One was able to swim to the shore but the other was caught in the strong current and was dragged out into the inlet.  A multi-agency search began for the teen.  Shortly after 5:40 this afternoon the MDPD, Dive Team, after fighting through strong currents, making it almost impossible to search recovered the body of a black male fitting the description of the missing person.

Investigators are awaiting positive identification from the Medical Examiner's Office.

The investigation continues...
