The Miami-Dade Police Department is investigating a home invasion where two victims, 15 and 19 year old, were transported to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital in critical condition.
Investigators say shortly before 8:30 this morning the victims, Alfredo Gallegos and Alexis Gallegos, who are brothers, were home alone sleeping. Alfredo Gallegos heard a noise and, when he approached the living room, was confronted by a subject that struck him on the head with a blunt object. Alexis Gallegos heard his brother's cry for help and ran to aide him when he also was struck with a blunt object by a second offender. The subjects then fled in an unknown direction with the victims personal items.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded and transported both victims via Air Rescue in critical condition. Both victims are now listed in stable condition.
During the investigation, officers observed a subject come out of the neighboring home. While being questioned it was found that the offender had an out-of-state and local warrant unrelated to the incident. At this time, it is unknown if this subject is related to the home invasion.
The investigation continues.
