Detectives from the Miami-Dade Police Department’s Homicide Bureau are investigating the drowning of two men at Haulover Beach, near Lifeguard Tower Four, late Tuesday morning.
Initial reports are that just after eleven o’clock four friends visiting from Brooklyn, New York went swimming near Lifeguard Tower Four. Three of them were caught by strong currents. A Bal Harbour off-duty police officer and two Miami-Dade Ocean Rescue Lifeguards observed the men in distress and plunged into the water to help. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue transported two of the victims to Aventura Hospital in critical condition. The third swimmer was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital in stable condition.
Shortly after noon, Isaac Rosenberg and Chaim Parnes, the two transported to Aventura Hospital, were pronounced deceased by doctors there.
