The Miami-Dade Police Department announces the arrest of the operator of a mobile wireless store in northwest Miami-Dade, and the recovery of stolen property worth thousands of dollars.
Detectives say an investigation into the theft of a stolen laptop lead them to a mobile wireless store located at 8290 N. Miami Ave. A sign at the front of the store advertised that the business bought and sold items.
A search warrant was executed last Thursday, June 30, at which time more than 200 items, including laptop and tablet computers, cameras, power tools, cell phones, television sets and watches were seized. These included laptops with markings indicating they were the property of the Miami-Dade County School Board.
On Tuesday, July 5, William Vega was arrested after he failed to provide investigators with transaction slips for property found at the store. Vega was charged with five counts of Dealing in Stolen Property, and one count each of Second Hand Dealer Record Keeping Violation, Pawnshop Holding Period Violation, Pawnshop Failure to Register with the Department of Revenue, and Pawnshop Prohibited Acts.
Anyone who believes they may have been a victim, should contact Detective S. Vales at (305) 835-4055.
An inventory of the stolen property will be on display at 2:00 o’clock this afternoon at MDPD’s Northside District Station located at 799 NW 81 Street, Miami, Florida.
