Shooting

(Miami-Dade County, FL) --

Lazaro Manuel Arencibia, 26 years old, of northeast Miami-Dade, was shot and critically wounded late Monday night when he and members of his family went in search of a vehicle that had been stolen from their home.

Detectives from Miami-Dade’s Intracoastal District, who are investigating the shooting, say late Monday night, after Arencibia and his family members discovered that their car, a 2009 Ford Fusion, had been stolen from their residence, they got into the family’s other vehicle and went in search of it.

They stopped for gas at a gas station at 8200 North Miami Avenue and observed three men putting gas into the family’s stolen Ford Fusion. They confronted the thieves, one of whom produced a firearm and shot Arencibia in the abdomen. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue transported him to Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital, in critical condition.

Detectives are searching for three black males last seen fleeing the area in a blue Hyundai.
