The Miami-Dade Police Department (MDPD), Homicide Bureau, is investigating a shooting that occurred about 2:30 this afternoon leaving one man dead in northwest Miami-Dade.

According to investigators, the MDPD responded to a call of a shooting in front of 6500 NW 22 Avenue.  Upon officers’ arrival they discovered one black male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.  Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded and pronounced this individual deceased on scene. 

Investigators are questioning a black male in regards to his involvement, if any.

UPDATE #1:  Kellen Darnell Gaulden has been arrested for the murder of Devonair Blake and charged with 2nd Degree Murder.  According to investigators during an attempted armed robbery, Devonair Blake approached Mr. Gaulden with a firearm and demanded his chain and wallet.  A struggle between Gaulden and Blake ensued.  Mr. Gaulden was able to disarmed Blake, chasing him for approximately two minutes, and subsequently shot him multiple times.   

Mr. Gaulden remained on scene until police arrived.  He was transported to Miami-Dade Police Department Homicide Bureau, where he invoked his rights, and charged accordingly.
