Homicide

(Miami-Dade County, FL) --

The Miami-Dade Police Department (MDPD), Homicide Bureau, is conducting an investigation into the death of two white males and one in critical condition in southwest Miami-Dade.

According to investigators, shortly before 4 this afternoon, MDPD received a call of a shooting at SW 200 Street and SW 19800 Block. As officers arrived, they discovered three people suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue (MDFR) responded and pronounced two of the victims deceased on the scene. One adult male was transported to Jackson South Trauma, where he is undergoing surgery.

A witness on the scene provided responding officers a description of the subject, vehicle and direction of travel. An officer that was responding to assist, observed the vehicle traveling in the opposite direction. The officer then made a U-turn in an attempt to stop the vehicle, where the subject stopped the vehicle and fled on foot. A perimeter was immediately established in the area of SW 137 Avenue and 200 Street. As the search was being conducted a possible family member approached an officer at the original scene, and stated the subject was on the cell phone requesting to speak to an officer. The officer then established communication with the subject and gave specific instructions, to ensure his safety during his surrender.

The motive and the condition of the third victim is unknown.

The subject was transported to the homicide bureau for further questioning, with formal charges pending.

The investigation continues...
