(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- 

The Miami-Dade Police Department (MDPD), Homicide Bureau, is conducting an investigation into the death of a man in 20s who was shot in northwest Miami-Dade.

Investigators say shortly after 5 o’clock today (Wednesday, February 22, 2017) officers from MDPD, Intracoastal District, along with Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Department (MDFR), were dispatched to a residence located at 14910 NW 9 Court in reference to a male shot. Responding officers located the victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the head. MDFR personnel responded and pronounced the victim deceased. 

UPDATE #1:The victim and the subject have been identified. On Thursday, February 23, 2017 Brandon Velez was apprehended, transported to the MDPD Homicide Bureau for questioning.  The subject provided detectives with a statement and was charged accordingly.

The investigation continues.
