The Miami-Dade Police Department, Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating a traffic crash that resulted in a fatality and one subject under arrest for stealing a vehicle and possession of a stolen gun.
According to investigators the subject vehicle was traveling southbound on NW 22 Avenue at a high rate of speed. The victim was traveling westbound on NW 103 Street. Both vehicles crashed at the intersection of NW 103 Street. The impact redirected the victim's vehicle into an adjacent business and subsequently caught fire. The victim was not able to exit the vehicle and died inside of the vehicle. The business sustained damage due to the fire. The City of Opa-Locka Police Department arrived on scene to provide assistance. Further investigation revealed that the subject vehicle, an Acura, was stolen from Pembroke Pines. The subject was taken into custody and a stolen firearm was also recovered.
Both NW 103 Street & NW 22 Avenue are closed while Detectives continue to investigate the incident.
