Barricaded Subject Taken Into Custody

(Miami-Dade County, FL) --

In an operation today which lasted several hours and involved officers from the Miami-Dade Police Department Hammocks District, Hostage Negotiators and the Special Response Team (SRT), a woman who was threatening to harm herself and her mother, was taken into custody without incident.

The operation began just before 11 o’clock, Wednesday morning, when a 911 call was received from a woman who said she had been served with papers to vacate her residence at 14950 SW 157 Terrace. The woman said she would not vacate the home, and if confronted, she would shoot at responding police officers and blow up the house with herself and her mother in it.

MDPD Hammocks officers who responded to the address were unsuccessful in making contact with the woman who had barricaded herself and her mother inside the residence. Hostage Negotiators and the SRT were summoned. The negotiators were able to make contact and after speaking with the woman, officers were able to take her into custody without further incident. She was transported to a nearby hospital.
