Traffic Homicide


(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- 

The Miami-Dade Police Department,  Traffic Homicide Unit, is investigating a fatal traffic crash that resulted in the death of a 41 year old male in Northwest Miami-Dade. 

Detectives say just before 4:00 p.m., Sunday afternoon (March 26, 2017) officers from the Northside District responded to a traffic crash in the area of NW 64th Street and NW 30th Place. The investigation revealed the driver of a 2003 grey Toyota Corolla and a red 2014 Chevrolet Cruz were traveling eastbound as pedestrian #1 and #2 were walking eastbound on the south side of the roadway. While traveling eastbound, the driver of the grey Toyota Corolla swerved left into the lane of the red Chevrolet Cruz.  In attempts to avoid the crash the driver of the Chevy  Cruz swerved to the left causing the Toyota Corolla to veer back to the right.  The driver of Toyota Corolla then struck the 41 year old pedestrian.  Both vehicles came to a final resting place at NW 54th Street and NW 30th Court. 

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel responded and pronounced the pedestrian victim deceased on scene.  The second pedestrian was not injured.

The investigation continues.
