Police Involved Shooting |

A member of the Miami-Dade Police Department (MDPD), Special Response Team (SRT), was involved in a shooting of a barricaded subject while assisting the City of Pinecrest Police Department. According to investigators, the City of Pinecrest Police Department responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence, located at 12700 S.W. 82nd Avenue. Officers made contact with a female and her adult son. The female advised that her husband had been drinking and barricaded himself in a bedroom. The wife also communicated that her husband was armed with a firearm and expressed to her that he was going to have a shootout with the police tonight. Officers escorted the wife and son to safety, and requested the assistance of the MDPD, SRT. Once SRT and negotiators arrived, they attempted to make contact with the barricaded male, shots were fired, and he was struck. The male was transported to Jackson South Hospital by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, where he was determined deceased. No officers were injured during this incident. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) is conducting the investigation. No further information is available at this time.
