Homicide

(Miami-Dade County, FL) --

The Miami-Dade Police Department, Homicide Bureau is investigating a shooting that resulted in two dead and two others injured.

According to investigators, the Shot Spotter System detected gun shots in the area of NW 44 Street and 29 Avenue.  Police officers nearby heard the gun shots, and immediately responded to the area.  One of the responding units observed a black sedan fleeing westbound on NW 44 Street at a high rate of speed.  The black vehicle then traveled northbound on NW 32 Avenue, and crashed into a marked, responding police vehicle at the intersection of NW 46 Street and 32 Avenue.  Several subjects were observed fleeing from the black sedan after the crash.  A perimeter was established, and two individuals were apprehended. At least two other subjects remain at large.

At the original incident location, officers discovered four males suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.  Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded, and pronounced two of the victims deceased at the scene. The third victim was transported to a local hospital with a gunshot wound to his upper body.  The fourth victim was treated and released.

Two officers were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries sustained in the crash with the black vehicle.

While the investigation continues at this time, detectives believe that the occupants of the black sedan were involved in the shooting incident.
