The Miami-Dade Police Department was involved in a shooting with an armed subject. The incident occurred in South West Miami Dade.
At approximately 9:40 p.m. officers were dispatched to a residence where a male had made verbal threats to harm himself. When the officers arrived, the subject had already left the residence in a Toyota Camry. The family confirmed his threats and told the officers that he is known to carry a firearm. They immediately provided other officers with the information and began searching. The officers located the vehicle nearby and when they attempted to stop him the subject refused and lead them back to his residence.
The subject exited the vehicle and immediately there was a confrontation. Shots were fired and the subject was pronounced deceased on the scene. The officers did not sustain any injuries. A firearm was recovered on scene.
No further information is available at this time as Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) continues the investigation.
