Investigators say that the subject was traveling northbound on S. Dixie Highway when the officer activated his emergency lights to conduct a traffic stop. The subject then stopped his vehicle at a nearby gas station. The officers approached the vehicle and observed the subject to be in possession of narcotics. The subject was ordered out of his car and was escorted towards the police vehicle. As the officer was further investigating, the subject made an overt movement and ignored the officer's commands. The officer fired his weapon striking the subject in the upper torso. The subject was transported to Ryder Trauma Center where he is listed in stable condition. The officer was not injured during the incident. Narcotics were recovered on the scene and on his person. It appears the subject may be released from the hospital this evening.
