The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) is investigating a shooting involving a Miami-Dade Police Department’s (MDPD), K-9 officer. At approximately 6:20p.m., officers were dispatched to a call of a female who had been kidnapped by an estranged domestic partner.  The female had been placed in the trunk of the vehicle by the subject and she was able to call 911.  The officers located the vehicle at SW 355 Street and SW 180 Avenue in a wooded area, the vehicle was unoccupied. A K-9 officer was searching the area when he was confronted by the subject who pointed a shotgun toward him, forcing him to shoot.  The female victim was located safely shortly thereafter.  

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to the scene and pronounced the male deceased.
