The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) is investigating a police involved shooting involving a Miami-Dade police officer.
According to investigators, the Miami-Dade Police Department (MDPD) received a 9-1-1 emergency call regarding a domestic incident involving a 15-year-old male being violent toward his guardians. When the officers' arrived, they made contact with the male inside the residence. While conducting their investigation, the officers became involved in a physical altercation with the violent 15-year-old. During the altercation, one of the officers discharged his firearm, striking the 15-year-old. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded and transported the victim to an area hospital in stable condition.
The officer involved in the shooting and a supervisor have been relieved of duty pending the outcome of the investigation.
