According to investigators, several 9-11 calls were received advising of shots being fired by an unknown male in the area of a residence, located at 8001 SW 89 Terrace. When officers arrived at the residence, they discovered several shell casings in the backyard. As they made entry through a rear door of the residence, they were confronted by an armed subject, and an exchange of gunfire ensued. The subject then barricaded himself inside the residence, but later surrendered to officers on the scene. Three officers were injured during the incident. They were treated on scene by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.

The subject was not injured during the incident. Charges are pending.
