The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) is investigating a police shooting involving a Miami-Dade Police Department (MDPD) officer, that resulted in the subject being shot. According to investigators, the subject entered the library armed and began shooting at the victim. The MDPD officer working at the library, engaged the subject and shot the subject neutralizing the threat. City of Miami Fire Rescue responded to the scene and transported the subject to Jackson Memorial Hospital Ryder Trauma Center. His condition is unknown at this time. Preliminary investigation revealed that this was an isolated incident and not a random act of violence. There were no other injuries. The investigation continues. Update #1: All parties involved have been identified above. The subject was arrested and charged accordingly.
