(Miami-Dade County, FL) --

The Miami-Dade Police Department, Public Corruption Section in conjunction with the Economic Crimes Bureau, arrested a courtroom clerk for official misconduct.

The two month investigation revealed that Donald R. Mathis, while employed by the Miami-Dade Clerk of Courts as a courtroom clerk, solicited and accepted a $1,400 payment to expunge outstanding court costs owed to the Miami-Dade County Clerk of the Courts. In addition, he provided official documents which stated such fees were sufficiently paid.  He was placed under arrest and charged accordingly.  The Office of the Miami-Dade Clerk of Courts cooperated in this investigation.
