(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- The Miami-Dade Police Department (MDPD) Homicide Bureau, is investigating a shooting that injured an off-duty MDPD officer.
According to investigators, Hammocks District officers responded to 18300 SW 122 Street in reference to a person shot. Upon arrival they made contact with an off-duty MDPD officer who was attending a social gathering at the location, and had been struck on the shoulder by a stray bullet. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to the scene and transported the officer to Jackson South Medical Center. The officer, who is a 13 year veteran, is in stable condition. No one else at the event was injured.
The investigation continues.
