Shooting


(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- 

Detectives from Miami-Dade Police Department's Northside District are investigating a shooting that left a 13 year old injured in northwest Miami-Dade.

According to detectives, shortly after 6:20p.m. this evening officers responded to a shooting at 4725 NW 24 Avenue. Arriving officers discovered the minor suffering from apparent gunshot wound to the back. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Department responded and transported the victim to Jackson Memorial Hospital Trauma Center.  A vehicle description was provided via the police radio of a white Mercedes 4-door sedan seen fleeing the area at the time of the shooting. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle and the driver of the vehicle refused to stop in attempts to evade the police.  MDPD aviation was requested for assistance in following the subject vehicle. Shortly thereafter the driver of the vehicle lost control of the vehicle at NW 7 Avenue and NW 56 Street, where officers were able to take them into custody.

At this time all subjects are being questioned by police regarding their involvement in the incident.  

The investigation continues.
