Four People Shot In Drive-By Shooting


(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- 

The Miami-Dade Police Department, South District is investigating a shooting that occurred early this morning and resulted in four people shot.  According to investigators, the four victims were sitting in front of the residence when a dark colored vehicle stopped and the subject(s) opened fire.  The four adult males were struck and transported to area hospitals.  The subject vehicle fled the area in an unknown direction.  A  "Be on the lookout" (B.O.L.O.) was issued with the vehicle description and responding officers located a vehicle that matched the description and attempted to stop and a police pursuit ensued.  The subject(s) bailed out of the vehicle in the area of S.W. 250 Street & S.W. 122 Avenue.  There was a female that remained inside of the vehicle at the time of the bailout and she was subsequently taken into custody.  The driver of the vehicle continued to flee the area on foot.  A perimeter was immediately established and K-9 units along with the Special Response Team (SRT) searched the area.  The subject was last seen running with a handgun and is considered armed and dangerous.  Further investigation led detectives to a residence, located S.W. 264 Street and S.W. 122 Avenue, where a second subject was taken into custody after a physical confrontation with officers.  Detectives continue to investigate the involvement of the the two subjects in custody.

The collaborated efforts between multiple police agencies and resources in the search led to negative results and the subject remains at large. The subject is considered armed and dangerous.

Victim's injuries are as follows: V-1, Tommy Mayfield - Buttock / V-2, Frank Luis - Upper Extremity / V-3, Tommy Butler - Lower Extremity / V-4, Broderick Richardson - Lower Extremity

UPDATE #1: As the search concluded, a theft occurred just east of the search location.  The description of the subject provided by the victim, was the same description as the subject of the bailout.  K-9 units and the Special Response Team, along with uniform personnel immediately responded to the area and re-established a perimeter and subsequently captured the subject in the back yard of one of the model homes of the construction site.  He was placed under arrest and charged accordingly.  The second subject has been identified and charged accordingly.  As of yet, the female detained has not been charged.
