The Miami Dade-Police Department (MDPD), Kendall District, is investigating a shooting that left two people injured.
According to investigators, uniform officers were dispatched to a call of shots fired in the area of SW 112 Avenue and Booker T. Washington Boulevard. As the responding officers canvassed the area of dispatch, a Miami-Dade Schools Police Department (MDSPD) Police Officer, assigned to Coral Reef High School, requested back-up. The MDSPD officer advised that she was approached by a female (victim), at SW 152 Street and 102 Avenue. The female victim, who was on foot, appeared to have been shot. Moments later, a second victim (male), who also appeared to have been shot was located inside a Ford Expedition parked on SW 102 Avenue, just south of SW 152 Street.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to the scene and transported both victims to Jackson Memorial South Hospital in stable condition.
As a precaution Coral Reef High School was placed on a temporary lockdown, and traffic was restricted in the area. The school and the roads have since reopened.
Investigators are working to determine the origin of the shooting scene and the investigation is active.
