Shooting


(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- 

The Miami-Dade Police Department, Homicide Bureau is investigating a shooting that resulted in the death of an intruder, who broke into a home in the Village of Pinecrest.

According to investigators, the Village of Pinecrest Police Department responded to the 911 call. Upon the officer’s arrival, they discovered a male suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to the scene and determined the subject deceased.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the victims were asleep inside the residence, when they were awoken by the sound of shattering glass. The victims were confronted by the subject, who had gained entry into the residence by breaking the glass on the sliding door. One of the victims, a U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer, shot the subject.  The victims were not injured.

The investigations continues.
