Strong Arm Robbery

Sudden Purse Snatch

(Miami-Dade County, FL) --

The Miami-Dade Police Department, Robbery Bureau is investigating an incident that resulted in two women robbed by sudden purse snatch.  According to investigator, the victim, a black female 59 years of age, was sitting at the bus stop located on S.W. 200 Street and U.S.-1, when several male subjects approached her and snatched the purse from her arm.  The subjects then fled in an unknown direction in a blue Hyundai Sonata.  Moments later, a sudden purse snatch to a white elderly female had occurred at the parking lot of 20505 South Dixie Highway .  The victim sustained minor lacerations and abrasions and was not transported to a medical facility.  Subjects fled in a blue vehicle in an unknown direction.  A B.O.L.O. (Be On the Look Out) was issued over the radio frequency and responding officers located the vehicle in the nearby area.  The officers attempted to stop the vehicle and the subjects refused to stop and a police pursuit ensued.  After a brief pursuit, the subject vehicle crashed into the structure of Miami MacArthur South school.  The subject then placed the vehicle in reverse, striking the marked police vehicle.  They then abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot onto the school ground.  The school was placed on a modified lock-down for the safety of the students and the integrity of the scene. Miami-Dade Police with the assistance of Miami-Dade Schools Police were able to apprehend five (5) subjects.  These individuals are being questioned by investigators to determine their involvement, if any.  No one was injured during the incident.
