The Miami-Dade Police Department (MDPD), Homicide Bureau announce’s the arrest of Mr. Allen Bregman for murder of a 1977 Cold Case.
According to investigators on August 6, 1977 at 7:50 p.m, officers from the Public Safety Department (currently known as MDPD) were dispatched to 4710 SW 67 Avenue, #H-8, in regards to a check on the welfare of Ms. Debra Clark. Officers gained access to the apartment by force entry and discovered Ms. Clark deceased suffering by an apparent single gunshot wound to the chest and a blunt force trauma to her head.
It was later learned that Mr. Bregman was involved in a romantic affair with Ms. Clark and filed an insurance claim under her name, which led him to become a possible suspect of the murder.
Earlier this year, detectives took DNA and fingerprint samples from Mr. Bregman. The fingerprints matched those found on an ashtray near Ms. Clark’s bed, which is believed to have been used in the murder. The DNA was also found to be consistent with evidence found on the scene the night of the murder.
On Thursday, August 4, 2016, Mr. Bregman was taken into custody in Macon County, North Carolina and is being extradited to Miami-Dade County on today’s date to face charges for murder.
