The Miami-Dade Police Department’s Homicide Bureau has made an arrest as a result of an investigation of a homicide that occurred in the City of Sweetwater last October.
According to investigators, on Saturday, October 11, 2014, City of Sweetwater police officers and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue were dispatched to a fire in the rear alley of 11400 West Flagler Street. Upon their arrival they discovered human remains near a dumpster. The victim was later identified by the Miami-Dade County Medical Examiner’s Department as Romina Fernandez.
Investigations revealed that the victim had previously been reported missing from the City of Sweetwater earlier that day.
Through investigative means, the examination of surveillance video and interviews of witnesses, investigators arrested Armando Botell and charged him with Second Degree Murder with a Deadly Weapon.
He was transported to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center and booked on the above charges.
