DUI Manslaughter Arrest

(Miami-Dade County, FL) --

The Miami-Dade Police Department, Traffic Homicide Unit, has made an arrest on a traffic crash case that took the life of a passenger. According to investigators, a GMC Yukon, driven by Jean Ralph Adam, was traveling northbound on S.W. 157 Avenue and attempted to make a left turn to head westbound on S.W. 144 Street. As it was making the turn, it was impacted by a Toyota Corolla, driven by Alexander Chica, traveling southbound on S.W. 157 Avenue at a high rate of speed. The impact caused the Yukon to roll over on its side and both vehicles caught fire. One of the passengers, Pablo Sanchez, was pronounced deceased on the scene. The remaining three passengers were transported to Kendall Regional Trauma Center. As investigators continued to follow all leads and process the evidence collected, they were able to confirm that the driver of the Toyota Corolla, Alexander Chica, was under the influence of alcohol. An arrest warrant was obtained and the Chica was taken into custody without incident and charged accordingly.
