The Miami-Dade Police Department, Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating a crash that resulted in the death of a bicyclist. According to investigators, a Miami-Dade Transit bus, #09504, was traveling westbound and came to a stop at the bus bench located at N.E. 5 Avenue. The bicyclist crossed N.E. 79 Street in a south-to-north direction and struck the side of the bus, mid-way on the driver's side, and fell. The driver, not aware that a bicyclist struck the bus, continued to travel westbound and ran over the bicyclist. City of Miami Fire Rescue responded and pronounced the bicyclist deceased on the scene. Please direct any inquiries regarding specific information of the driver to Miami-Dade Transit.
