The Miami-Dade Police Department (MDPD), Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating a crash that took the life of a Miami-Dade police officer.
According to investigators, the officer was patrolling the area on a MDPD All-Terrain Vehicle, as a result of community concerns involving criminal activity. During the enforcement initiative, a crash occurred resulting in critical injuries to the officer. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to the scene and transported the officer to Jackson South Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The officer was a 15 year veteran of the Department, assigned to the South District, Neighborhood Resource Unit.
