According to Investigators, the police vehicle was traveling west on SW 260 Street and the civilian vehicle was traveling south on SW 147 Avenue.  At the intersection, the two vehicles collided and subsequently both vehicles came to rest on the southwest corner of the intersection.  The driver of the Nissan was determined deceased on scene by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.  The two police officers were transported to Ryder Trauma Center by Miami-Dade Fire Air Rescue, where they were admitted with non-life threatening injuries.  Both officers were medically attended to and discharged from Ryder Trauma Center. 

The two police officers are assigned to the South District.  The driver is a Field Training Officer with approximately six years of law enforcement experience.  The passenger has been a member of the Miami-Dade Police Department for approximately three months.
